Overview of the Role

The New Statesman’s expanding video department is looking for a Video Assistant Producer.

Reporting to the Video Producer this new role will primarily deliver editorial video content for the New Statesman, with some additional production on content for NSMG brands and commercial projects.

We’re looking for a candidate with a strong track record creating news, current affairs and politics video for online distribution. Our ideal candidate will be highly organised, efficient in pre-production, able to self-shoot when required, and be a fast, creative editor. Experience delivering video content for a variety of platforms including YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram is preferred.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing team and help develop new audiences for a respected, quality publication with ambitious expansion plans.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assisting with production of regular video output for the New Statesman website, YouTube and social channels
  • Research, pre-production and organising shoot logistics
  • Writing scripts and video copy
  • Operating our new studio including setting up cameras, lighting and vision mixing
  • Filming on location including second camera on larger productions and solo shooting from time to time.
  • Ingesting and managing footage
  • Editing interviews, news clips, studio material and assistant editing on longer projects
  • Preparing content for distribution across multiple platforms including social
  • Managing equipment (with video producer)

About You

General

Strong understanding of news, current affairs and politics with proven editorial judgement

Experience in digital video or broadcast production, preferably in a news / current affairs environment

Full of ideas for editorial videos for the New Statesman, with ability to pitch, present ideas and persuade contributors

Confident, clear communicator with excellent written and spoken English

Enterprising and takes initiative, enthusiastic to join and help grow a new department

Video Shooting

Experience in shooting video for a digital audience using professional cameras, both as second camera and solo

Knowledge of Canon & Blackmagic video camera systems

Basic video lighting skills including three-point interview lighting and studio setups

Video Editing and Post Production

A good working knowledge of all aspects of editing in Adobe Premiere, with experience in a variety of factual formats including interviews, news packages, documentaries, explainers and news clips.

Experience reversioning video for different platforms, with an understanding of the different creative and technical requirements of each.

DIT and file management experience

An understanding of using archive / agency footage and library music would be helpful

Experience with Adobe After Effects and other Creative Suite software would be beneficial

Overview of the Role

We are seeking two Junior Researcher’s to work on various New Statesman Media Group brands (namely Elite Traveler, Tech Monitor, Spear’s, World of Fine Wine, Press Gazette, Capital Monitor), conducting research into relevant markets.

This includes sending, tracking and analysing research submissions from the market, assigning ratings and rankings to individuals and companies, developing new rating/ranking categories and suggesting brand expansion through analysis of the data available.

The ideal candidate will be a highly organised individual looking to further their career in business research and publishing.

Main Responsibilities

  • Send, track and analyse research submissions
  • Maintain research and contacts database and online content
  • Produce rankings of individuals and companies
  • Develop and produce standalone research reports
  • Conduct desktop research, and using books, journal articles, newspaper sources, questionnaires, surveys, polls, and interviews to gather data

About You

Spear’s is seeking Digital Editor to lead its wealth management industry coverage on the digital platform, SpearsWMS.com. This role provides an opportunity for you to join the team at a pivotal moment in the development of Spear’s as a digital-first brand.

Based in our London office you will manage and execute the content plan for SpearsWMS.com with a strong focus on SEO, agenda-setting content, data and ranking content to hit traffic and engagement targets.

The successful candidate will also work closely with the Spear’s Editor and supporting teams across the New Statesman Media Group to relaunch a re-designed and updated spearswms.com.

Main Responsibilities

  • Responsibility for successful delivery and management of all Spear’s output across digital platforms
  • Working with Spear’s Editor and other colleagues from across the New Statesman Media Group, manage and deliver the relaunch of spearswms.com
  • Working with Spear’s Head of Research, develop and continuously improve spears500.com, as well as the digital publication of the brand’s market-leading data-backed rankings content
  • Manage Spear’s output across social media and build the Spear’s community, especially on LinkedIn
  • Create and deliver effective content plans
  • Develop the brand’s newsletter offering
  • Ability to meet deadlines and to plan content schedules in advance, both long- and short-term

Overview of the Role

The Event Executive will be responsible for helping to manage a portfolio of events under the magazine brands within the New Statesman Media Group. We run over 60 events throughout the year and cover multiple industries such as Tech, Finance, Current Affairs, Healthcare, Wealth Management and Politics. The types of events include webinars, roundtables, conferences, awards, networking and bespoke events.

The Event Executive will be responsible for delivering all aspects of their own events, end to end project management and supporting the rest of the operations team across the schedule on-site.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ownership of allocated events from start to finish
  • On-site event management across events schedule
  • Researching and collating information related to venues
  • Deliver outstanding customer service to sponsors, clients and delegates
  • Accurate budget management and reporting of figures on a weekly basis to Senior Event Manager
  • Research and negotiate with suppliers to ensure costs are on target
  • Provide regular updates, escalate any areas of concern and report on project progression to the Senior Event Manager
  • Manage multiple projects and tight deadlines simultaneously
  • Collaborate with sales teams on the creation of sponsorship packs
  • Directing allocated projects and cooperating with the marketing and production teams
